Our Consultation Process
Our landscape lighting consultation process begins at home.
Once you’ve placed a call and talked to us briefly about your landscape lighting aspirations, we come to you in Cambridge, Kitchener or the surrounding area. The first part in our plan to create the perfect, unique outdoor lighting solution for your family is a site visit. We do this for three main reasons:
- We want to meet your family and get them comfortable with the people you’ll be working with.
- It’s important to determine your goals right away.
- We want to see the geography of your property so we can accurately assess the possibilities and costs of your potential project.
Step 1
What are your goals?
Some customers look at landscape lighting as a security measure; highlighting entrances, driveways, steps, walkways – any places a potential intruder might target or linger.
Some look not at the home safety angle, but personal safety. Leading people along winding stone paths, to doorways or lighting the path along an extended driveway so visibility is good gives many homeowners peace of mind. One client even contracted us to develop a lighting system to deter skunks and other animals from meandering around the property at night.
We install unobtrusive light fixtures on handrails and steps to ensure these transitions are visible and free of disorienting shadows that could contribute to a slip or fall.
Other customers prefer to accent their living space – providing soft but sufficient lighting for entertaining on the patio or providing soft ambient lighting around the property to give both inside and outside a more finished and refined feel.
Step 2
We need to know your goals and see your property
It’s a great step to learn your goals, but we also have to see how you use your property (and how we can use your property too). Do you sit out late? Do you want the kids to be able to swim at night while you keep an eye on them from a handful of rooms in the house?
During our visit we also look at the architecture of your property, like trees, pathways and the overall layout. Your landscape lighting system is tailored to highlight what works best in your existing framework.
Step 3
We take everything into account including sight lines from the house
It’s important to reap the benefits of your investment as completely as possible. We want to look at where people are sitting at night, where your family eats, how late you work from the home office with the window facing the corner of the yard. It’s just as important to consider what you see from within the house as what you see when you use your property outside.
When you sit down at the end of the day it’s important for you to feel that your living space expands to the outdoor portion of your property.
Step 4
When you hear from us next
The next time we’re in touch you’ll receive a set of options which we can expand and detract from depending on your thoughts. Most customers choose to expand their custom plan when they see the effect our designs have on their property. These high quality outdoor lighting systems truly have the power to turn your entire property into beautiful living space. Buried wires are completely unobtrusive and lighting fixtures are never the focus. We sell the effect, not the fixture.
We work with customers for years, even decades, to build and grow the landscape lighting system that best meets their needs and style. And we can’t wait to work with you.
